Theresa Dowdeswell, Salamander Arts Ceramics
Working mainly with slipcast porcelain, Theresa creates lamps, tealight holders, vases and bowls which show off the qualities of the materials.
Inspired by the world around us, the forms and decoration are reminders of places visited - sometimes objects from holidays are used to make the moulds, such as the plastic drinks receptacle used for the vases.
Decoration of the pieces often uses minerals such as copper carbonate or oxide, and cobalt, along with underglazes and a few glazes made from a variety of ingredients depending on the results required. It is interesting to see how differently the oxides react with different types of glaze.
Exhibiting in the Red Zone
21st-22nd September 2024
